What do you find most interesting about your job? I love to be creative and develop new programs, teach, and find new ways to offer them. I also enjoy attending and presenting at conferences, as well as networking there. It’s important to keep up in our field!

How did you get into this field? I chose dietetics and nutrition education because it is one of the best ways to help others prevent disease and maintain health. Without health, our children and country will fall behind and never develop to their potential.

Where were you born and raised? Mundelein IL until age 12, then Camp Hill, PA

Where did you go to college and/or complete and internship? B.S. in Dietetics from Indiana University of PA, M.S. and double minors in psychology and biology;  Nutrition Science from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, combined with an internship with the Veterans Affairs and University Hospitals of Cleveland

Besides your profession, what are your hobbies? Pastel and oil painting, travelling internationally and domestically (especially with study tours including food, wine, farms), reading, gardening, yoga

What are your favorite foods? Anything Italian, Mexican

What is on your bucket list? More travelling and painting. Keeping up with my adult twins, who live on different coasts.

How long have you been a member of NEP DPG?   Not sure, but probably 15 years And why did you join? Because I educate the public in my job- through face to face and online classes, web and print articles and fact sheets, and my peers. This group and our publications help keep me informed.

Any other interesting things you would like to share with NEP members. Back in 2009 my co-authors and I won the Award of Excellence from NEP for our Family Fitness program. I wrote an article about it in the newsletter.
